Congratulations to Forest Ethics

ForestEthics and eight other environmental organizations have just signed a historic agreement with the Canadian forest industry to conserve our precious Boreal Forest and critical woodland caribou habitat. It starts with a three-year moratorium on logging across more than 29 million hectares--an area the size of New Zealand. Now, it's time to get to work developing lasting protection proposals for the Boreal Forest, woodland caribou, and our climate.

Great Bear Rainforest Milestone

Great Bear Rainforest AgreementOne of the most critical milestones towards protecting the Great Bear Rainforest has been achieved. On Tuesday March 31st 2009, the Province of British Columbia announced formal action to realize its commitment to implement Ecosystem-Based Management (EBM) in the Great Bear Rainforest, to ensure the long-term health of the rainforest and its communities.

Tides Renewal Centre Springs to Life

The Tides Renewal Centre is springing to life. The exquisite renovation of the Flack Block by Robert Fung and Salient Group stands kitty corner from Victory Square on the Cambie and Hastings adjacent to the Woodward’s redevelopment.

Our New Home

Renewal will move in early January to our fabulous new space on the 2nd floor of The Tides Renewal Centre located at the Flack Block. The Centre’s four floors of offices with LEED certified commerical interior build out, will also house Tides Canada Foundation, along with a number of other exceptional social entrepreneurs.

Vancouver's Nicole Rycroft Detained in Beijing

Nicole Rycroft  and another activist representing Students for a Free Tibet are pictured above earlier today in Beijing on top of a billboard reading: Beijing 2008. Rycroft and the other activist unfurled a banner that said: "Free Tibet." It remained in place for a half an hour, before authorities removed it and arrested the activists, Mel Raoul, a member of Students for a Free Tibet said tonight. Rycroft is currently being detained.
