Tides Canada Names Sarah Goodman Vice President, Business Development and Services

VANCOUVER, B.C. – Ross McMillan, President and CEO of Tides Canada, announced today that Sarah Goodman has joined the organization as Vice President of Business Development and Services. Goodman will help expand Tides' national role as a provider of innovative philanthropic, financial and project management services.

As a member of the senior executive team, Goodman will provide strategic and business development leadership for the Tides Canada family of institutions, with specific accountability for client services, project development and oversight, programs and grant-making, evaluation, communications and fundraising.

She joins Tides from Teck Cominco Limited, Canada’s largest diversified mining company, where she led the company’s corporate affairs activities. Before joining Teck, Goodman spent eight years with Weyerhaeuser Company Limited, where she held a number of senior executive roles, including Vice President of Government and Public Affairs and then Vice President of Transactions in the company’s acquisitions and divestitures group.

“Solving today’s complex social and environmental problems will require new approaches and an ability to collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders,” said McMillan. “To this end, with her strong corporate background, history of volunteerism and impeccable record as a creative mind and strategist, Sarah will be a major asset to Tides Canada in our work to bring together the resources and leadership needed to drive change on key social and environmental issues,” said McMillan.

Goodman brings to her new role a depth of experience in board work and volunteerism. She is currently on the board of TransLink, the transportation authority for the Vancouver region. She is also the Vice Chair of the Coast Mental Health Foundation and a trustee of the Jack Webster Foundation. She is a past board member of Iisaak Forest Resources, a First Nations’ led, FSC-certified forest-services company based in Clayoquot Sound. She holds a Bachelor of Journalism from Carleton University and Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Warwick in England.
