Joshua Mailman
Joshua Mailman has played BIG integrating money, meaning
and progressive social change around the world for over thirty years. A
legendary organizer, Josh founded the Threshold Foundation, a national network of philanthropists; the Social Venture Network U.S., Europe, and Asia, an international network of socially driven businesspeople; and co- founded Business for Social Responsibility and Grameen Phone, Bangladesh among others.
The
ripples of his leadership are truly extraordinary. While Josh is an
active philanthropist, his primary financial focus is creating change
through investing in and helping to grow visionary companies through his
impact venture capital fund Serious Change Investments. He also founded Jalia Ventures, a fund focused on putting early stage capital into the hands of inspired black entrepreneurs running impact ventures.
Josh
Mailman is also a founding investor in Stoneyfield Farms, Seventh
Generation, Utne Magazine, Stirling Energy Systems, Global Telesystems,
Wayfinder Systems, A.B., Motivano, Econergy International plc., the Fund
for Global Human Rights, the Sigrid Rausing Trust, U.K., the Joshua
Mailman Foundation, and an advisor to the Pema Fund.
He serves on the
boards of the following organizations: the Fund for Global Human
Rights, Blacksmith Institute, Afropop Worldwide, Environmental Defenders
Law Center, Witness, and Bioresources International.
