Renewal Presents

Play Big Hollyhock 2009: Creative Solutions In Challenging Times

Sept 2-6, 2009, Hollyhock Centre, Cortes Island, BC

Reflect upon what could be your most significant contribution to the world.

A Gathering of Peers

We believe in the importance of pooling our collective wisdom to make strategic and effective philanthropic and social investment decisions.   In uncertain times there is also great opportunity.  Let’s be as dynamic as possible with our great resources.

We invite you to join an intimate community of your peers to engage in vital conversations and inquiry:

  • Are we being  mindful, strategic and imaginative with our wealth?
  • Do we recognize and support what’s already working?
  • How can we initiate and best collaborate to create new things when innovation is called for?
  • How can we maximize opportunities to make an impact?
  • How do we stay awake to the critical and compelling interests of future generations?

Now in its fifth year, Play BIG is designed for people with discretionary capital of $15 million dollars or more. The 2009 conference is hosted by Carol Newell, Marian Moore and Joel Solomon who welcome newcomers as well as Play BIG alumni. Pre-approval is required prior to registration.  Please contact Marian Moore at marian@playbig.ca for details.

Hollyhock Centre is an ideal place to slow down and reflect upon what could be your most significant contribution to the world.  You will relish Hollyhock’s casual simplicity, its comfort, and its organic, fresh local cuisine.  Enjoy a bodywork session, a stroll on the beach, quiet time in the famous Hollyhock garden, and a soak in the hot tub with ocean and mountain vista.

Special Guest - Abigail Disney

An heir to the Disney family fortune, Abby has become increasingly public in her encouragement of fellow wealth-holders to put their money to work in service of their values.

“Play BIG is a great initiative.  The collective Renewal story and how it all fits together, gives even those who have been at this quite a while a real inspiration to do more.”
