The public is calling for changes in the international financial system in response to the excesses and failures of recent years and increasingly urgent social and environmental challenges. There is another way — bankers at the forefront of positive change who have joined together in the Global Alliance for Banking on Values (GABV).

The GABV is an independent network of 14 progressive banks, with $29 billion in combined assets, who are leading the worldwide sustainable banking movement. Members are bound by a shared commitment to find global solutions to social and environmental problems and to promote a positive, viable alternative to the current financial system. The GABV is holding its fourth annual meeting in Vancouver March 8-10, hosted by its first Canadian member, Vancity Credit Union.

Join us for an evening of dialogue and debate with Canadian journalist and author Naomi Klein, UK-based New Economics Foundation Executive Director Stewart Wallis and Vancity CEO Tamara Vrooman in a session moderated by CBC TV journalist Ian Hanomansing as they explore how communities, business and banks can best respond to the need for change and what kind of future we can expect by putting the needs of people first. Peter Blom, CEO of Netherlands-based Triodos Bank and Chair of the GABV will open the event. Presented by Vancity, sponsored by KPMG.
