Time requirement:  Full Time
Location: Based in Vancouver, the position will involve travel throughout BC, and the incumbent may be required to work occasional evenings and weekends as required, for which, time off in lieu will be accrued.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
  • Development of social enterprises that contribute to BEST’s sustainability. 
  • Development of enterprise clients/member agencies for STAR 
  • Generating sponsorship income and relations
  • Developing joint ventures, partnerships and other forms of collaboration
  • Co-Management of STAR with STAR team members

DUTIES
Developing BEST as a sustainable organisation.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the business plans for STAR and The Bicycle Valet, based on strategies and objectives agreed by the Board 
  • Ensure effective monitoring and evaluation systems are put in place and manage annual review of both major enterprises 
  • In conjunction with the ED, prepare and disseminate reports, guidelines, policies, frameworks and other information about the STAR initiative for internal and external purposes
  • Prepare and oversee tenders for consulting services
  • Assist the ED in revising and implementing policies 
  • Assist in managing office operations, contracts, IT and equipment
  • Contribute to the secure future of the organisation through sound financial management of the annual budget for STAR.
  • Contribute to the collection of relevant statistical, financial and other management information 
  • Assist the ED in coordinating administrative, information and financial systems

Development of Clients/Member Agencies
 
  • Ensure continuous development of the client and associate base for STAR
  • Develop marketing materials for STAR
  • Build relationships with members and associates

Generating Sponsorship Income

  • Develop and deliver sponsorship strategy
  • Identify and target new and existing potential sponsorship opportunities
  • Develop tailored sponsorship packages for each lead
  • Manage relationships from initial contact to evaluation 
  • Monitor and evaluate sponsorship both internally and externally

Developing Joint Ventures and/or other corporate structures as appropriate

  • Actively seek and develop new joint ventures with STAR clients, members and associates
  • Prepare a business case for the ED and Board in terms of viability and return
  • Manage delivery of joint ventures
  • Monitor and evaluate both internally and externally 

Management of STAR 
 
  • Co-Lead the STAR team (with Steve Beck)  to ensure performance targets are met
  • Oversee the delivery of related STAR Hub activities in web-based resources, education and training contracts and member/associate communications
  • Develop the STAR HUB with the ED and STAR team to ensure innovation year to year
  • Source sponsorship income for STAR and manage relationships from conception to evaluation, as required, in collaboration with ED and STAR team.

  • Take responsibility for own learning and development as identified through regular appraisal and review

  • Promote and implement BESTs vision and mission throughout all duties and responsibilities
