Reporting to the Vice President, Business Development, the Manager, Business
Development will act as an ambassador for Offsetters and help to position the
organization as a recognized leader in the carbon management industry by
providing an exceptional level of service and education to potential clients. The
Manager is responsible for managing the full‐cycle business development program,
driving outside sales and supporting the Offsetters leadership team to ensure
products and service offerings meet customer needs, reflect Offsetters’ values and
drive revenue growth.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Coordinates with VP, Business Development in regards to their roles in new
customer acquisition and sales revenue growth.
• Generates sales of carbon advisory services and carbon offsets through
networks, relationship development, client referrals, warm calls for largesized
companies.
• Coordinates full sales cycle through closing, then ensures transfer of
ownership and all required information to Manager, Client Engagement.
• Supports the VP, Business Development to develop relationships with
businesses or individuals according to the sales strategy.
• Develops sales proposals responding to both reactive and proactive
opportunities and RFPs.
• Continues to support the evolution of Offsetters’ brand as the industry and
company evolve.
• Helps manage the sales budget based on sales objectives and historical data.
• Continuously monitors relevant publications for new trends in sales, carbon
offset industry, and information to the overall team in a timely manner.
• Supports VP, Business Development and other team members in other
duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
• A degree in marketing, business, sustainability or other relevant field of
study.
• Minimum five years experience in full sales cycle with at least two years
experience in a sales leadership role, preferably in a B2B environment.
• Knowledge of and passion for sustainability and climate change issues.
• Familiar with various sales methodologies, specifically relationship
development and cultivation.
• Experience launching direct sales campaigns with long cycle‐time products.
• Project management experience, including project tracking, development of
supporting tools and strong emphasis on implementation according to
budgets and timelines.
• A keen interest and awareness of key trends in carbon management
industry and the ability to communicate how these trends could potentially
impact Offsetters and clients.
• A professional track record of success developing relationships that
translate to sales with high profile, large enterprises.
• A proven ability to communicate clearly and concisely in written and oral
contexts.
• Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of an
organization.
• Previous experience working in a dynamic, start‐up environment.
Additional Qualifications:
• Environmental sales experience.
