Marketing and Communications Associate (six-month, part-time contract position)

Boldt Communications Inc. is growing, and we're looking for someone who's looking for a new challenge and wants to grow with us.

Boldt is seeking a mid-level Marketing and Communications Associate for a six-month, part-time contract. The successful candidate will be experienced in and excel at tactics that include media relations, event organization and management, and copy writing for press releases, marketing material and websites.

Initially the contract is for 40 hours per month for six months. There is potential for the contract period to be extended, as well as for the position to grow in scope to include additional responsibilities, including developing communications strategy for clients and account management.

Compensation is negotiable and commensurate with experience. This position is based in our Vancouver, B.C. office.

Required Qualifications

At this time, Boldt Communications will only be accepting candidates that meet all of the following required qualifications;

  • Five-plus years of experience in communications, marketing and media relations, or demonstrated equivalent experience
  • Degree, diploma, formal course work or combination of education and experience in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, English or equivalent
  • Extensive knowledge of print and electronic news media
  • Extensive media relations experience: media pitches; managing press contacts and relationships; monitoring mainstream and social media; and coordinating responses to media inquiries
  • Experience researching and developing a variety of communications materials, including news releases, backgrounders, media advisories, speaking notes, issues notes, and other marketing materials
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and execute media events
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), as well as internet research skills
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks under tight deadlines and meet schedules and assigned tasks in a timely manner

Additional Qualifications

The following qualifications are evaluated as assets for applicants:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage client accounts and to design and implement long-term creative and strategic communications campaigns
  • Interest in developing new accounts and campaigns wil clients and funders
  • Extensive reporter contacts - priority given to political/current affairs, business and real estate contacts and/or experience
  • Experience managing project budgets
  • Experience developing, using and monitoring social media platforms and tools (Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Flickr, Hootsuite)
