Get Your Vote On is a non-partisan project engaging young people in the democratic process through. We do this through voter registration, organizing youth focused all candidates debates and youth focused outreach on elections and democracy. For the past 5 years, we've been successfully engaging youth - making democracy matter.

Reporting to the Lead Coordinator, the Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating youth focused outreach to get youth to vote in the upcoming municipal and provincial elections in BC.

Hours of work: This is a part-time contract position (averaging 25 hrs/week) from Oct 14, 2008 - Nov 22, 2008.  Compensation: $15 / hour.  Desired start date: As soon as possible.

Responsibilities

• Organizing outreach events
• Recruiting and training volunteers
• Developing campaign materials
• Researching party platforms
• Doing outreach at pubs, concerts, online and many other places
• Developing campaign sponsors
• Merchandising
• Liaising with bands and artists
• Develop and maintain contacts with partner organizations and community groups
• Take out the recycling
• Communications
• Help implement communications strategy
• Working with the media

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people
• Strong organizational skills
• Experience with project coordination and campaign management
• Strong computer skills (familiar with Windows, Excel, Photoshop)
• Experience with Online Social Networking Tools
• Campaign experience a definite asset
• Ability to work in a flexible, slightly crazy, team-oriented environment
• Strong communication skills
• Must be a self-starter with a desire to learn
• Knowledge of the diverse
• Event coordination experience an asset
• Knowledge of the diverse Cultural communities in Vancouver an asset
• Drivers license a bonus
