Job Description

The Project Coordinator will assist building owners and managers throughout the process of planning and implementing green building retrofits and coordinate related project activities. The retrofits are primarily focused on cost effective measures for reducing energy and water use, through broader green building considerations may be incorporated where applicable (e.g. indoor air quality, non-toxic materials, waste reduction).

Responsibilities

Liase with building owners and managers:

• Explain the retrofit process
• Outline costs and benefits
• Secure commitments to move forward with projects
• Provide ongoing support throughout the retrofit process

Coordinate retrofit tasks, including (but not limited to):

• Engineering assessments
• Financing applications
• Funding applications
• Contracting installers

Keep accurate and up to date records on project status and relevant contacts

Assist with a variety of other tasks to support building retrofit programs, including (but not limited to):

• Promotional activities
• Administration
• Data collection and program monitoring

• Professional and personable demeanor
• Exceedingly organized with an attention to detail
• Ability to work independently, from home, and collaborate with team members via phone and internet
• Ability to understand technical reports (e.g. engineering assessments) and explain them to others in laymen's terms
• General familiarity with building systems, energy efficiency, and green building practices
• Comfortable working with spreadsheets and word documents and learning to use new software as required (e.g. CRM/project management applications
• Available for meetings outside ordinary office hours

FRESCo is currently leading a condo retrofit program for the BC Sustainability Energy Association with support from the City of Vancouver, Vancity, FortisBC, BC Hydro, The Ministry of Energy & Mines, and others. This initial pilot project involves retrofitting up to 15 strata-titled buildings in the City of Vancouver, with the intention of dramatically increasing this number in subsequent buildings. These programs have the potential to significantly transform the existing building stock and help meet energy and greenhouse reduction goals in Vancouver and beyond.
