Biro Creative is looking for a full-time Web Designer to help meet the needs of our growing slate of progressive, values-based clients.
That's right, picture yourself working in a stunning character studio in Gastown, Vancouver with a fabulous and talented creative team. Our firm is young, small and tons of fun. We believe in a forty-hour work week and feeling good about every client and project we take on. The work we do is creative, challenging and energy-filled. Every day you'll be designing mission-critical sites and materials for an inspiring mix of high profile, values-based clients, such as Greenpeace, the United Nations Foundation, William J. (Bill) Clinton Foundation and the 100-Mile Diet.
Responsibilities
- Designing user-focused, brand-conscious, eye-catching websites (don't worry, someone else will handle all the coding);
- Creating attention-grabbing, action-inducing web banners and e-newsletters (again, no coding needed);
- Ensuring every project, big or small, that leaves our doors is a thing of beauty.
- Developing visual campaign concepts and carrying them through production;
- Assisting with artwork for interactive web tools and infographics;
- Working directly with clients on branding and identity development;
- Producing print materials, from posters to brochures to stationery to business cards.
Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of type and image, and their application;
- At least two years of design experience and a knock-out portfolio to show for it;
- Rock solid web production skills (i.e. colour and graphic optimization for different media);
- Deadline-orientation with the ability to prioritize and accomplish multiple projects within tight timeframes;
- Ability to work directly with clients, leading them through every phase of the design process;
- Advanced Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks (we can help with this one).
This is a key, full-time position in a unique, fun and growing company working at the cutting-edge of business and social change. We're an easy-going, but hard-working team that takes huge pride in our web design, print design and interactive projects for socially conscious clients.
Compensation for this position is very competitive-based on Society of Graphic Designers of Canada (GDC) standards-and includes benefits and professional development.
